What NOT to Do on Social Media for Network Marketing

Do You Want to Use Social Media in Building Your Business?

Then  it’s important to know what not to do almost as much as it’s important to know what to do. Even if social media is not a huge part of your strategy, you certainly don’t want to have it take away from your ability to build your business.

At a minimum, your social media presence should augment your efforts, because in today’s world your prospects will definitely check you out on social media as a way to see how real you are and if you resonate with them. I teach the fundamentals of using social media, and particularly Facebook. In this article I’ll give you the insights as to how to make sure you don’t hurt your business potential.

The first mistake to avoid is…

Do Not Splash Your Company and Product All Over Your Profile Page

If you are new to the home business industry, this may seem counter-intuitive. After all, you want people to know you are in business. The problem is that your potential prospects will either pre-judge what they see and think they know all about it, or you lose control of the information. What I mean by this, is that instead of contacting you directly, the prospect will go online and learn about whatever you are doing on their own. So even if they are attracted to what you offer, there is a good chance they won’t be getting it through you. Another potential downside is that the internet is a “sour grapes” machine. Anyone with an axe to grind about anything, screams it loudly on the internet. There’s a good chance that your potential prospect will now be tainted by some opinion from someone who doesn’t have anything better to do than talk negatively about your company. It’s important to provide value and touch on benefits you provide (I talk about how to do this in my Network Marketing for Facebook Training) which provokes curiosity, but don’t be putting your Company and Product directly out there.

Don’t Be Over The Top

No Hype is the key. The best prospects for your product and business are likely sick of hype. Be real. Enthusiasm is good. Hype…not so good! You also want to be wary of not over-posting. There are lots of other things that you will want to stay away from that I talk about in the video below.

The bottom line is that Facebook and social media in general is a great area to network if you do it right. But we all have a responsibility, not just for our own business, but to create an attractive environment for everyone in the industry. There are lots of great trainers who are experts on all facets of social media. I encourage you to look into to getting some quality training for you and the people you sponsor. I am just releasing my Facebook and Network Marketing Training. It is full of the fundamentals to help anyone, even the technically challenged like me, to successfully work in the space and use it to build the business and support your other business building activities.
